What and Where?
The Huckleberry has been in this spot for quite awhile and has a very good reputation from the area of Louisville so I had to give it a try. It’s location is on the main road running though Louisville on the corner of pine and main, it’s a nice little building that is a lot bigger then it looks from the outside. It’s one restaurant from the owners of a few other places that also have gotten a good following, and this place little there others prides it self on fresh local stuff to highlight the are it’s in.
First thoughts
So I work near by this place and have heard good things for quite sometime now so when I found my self in the area not working I decided to go and to take my mothers along to. The place when I walked in at first was a pastry and dessert shop with many tasty stuff in the windows and a busy atmosphere. To the side then was the hostess stand where they take you in to the back that’s is a the dineing room. It was quite roomy for what I saw from out side and it had this cute design to the place to fit the menu that it had. The hostess was very kind and the waitress as well though she seemed a little to busy and at times took a little to long to come back with things but the place was busy so it was not unfounded at all.

The Food
Now the food was quite nice the menu theme was very I don’t know quite how to do but frilly? It was lite things and tea pairings but they still had a decent selection. I when with the classic in American style food and got a burger, topped with Brie cheese and a house dressing with mixed greens and the such and my mother got a chicken pot pie. They both sounded wonderful and were both excited but sadly it took some time for the food to arrive it looked busy granted and were not expecting it super fast but we had two items and other tables had five or six so I had hoped they would get our food out as soon as possible but I t looked like they really only worked one time that a time, But when the food arrived I wanna say it made the wait worth while! It was a very juice flavor packed burger the portion was very well sized and was cooked to the perfect temp and texture as well as my mother’s pot pie it had a wonderful flakey crust and a steamy and creamy inside. The food was very nice and I was quite hungry after the wait so I devoured it same with my mother and we felt satisfied. Next came the dessert and this again was a bit of a disappointment. It seems the desserts for the pastry shop up front were the same for the dining room which is fine except for the fact of quantity every thing we tried to order the front case was out of with the poor server back and forth to tell us I’m sorry we just ran out sorry we just ran out. So it was a little frustrating that they did not have a specific case of dessert just for the dinners so as to not have this problem. So the only thing they did not run out of was a basic chocolate brownie, it was good but not anything to go crazy about I see why it was one of the only desserts left at 12 midday.

Review
Well overall even with the somewhat slow service, and the issues with the desserts I still give it a good positive rating. The food was very nice and refreshing and the people were very kind, we did come in at what looked like a peak time so perhaps if one came in at a different time it would be a little quicker. But the desserts I don’t think can be really any better unless you came in at a very early time in the morning when they are fresh, I don’t see how they have an dessert for diners if by 12 they are out of most of them. I would still recommend the place if you find your self in the area for it is a lovely little place with good food and I enjoy most of my experience there.
